# Connect WhatsApp to Mujib with a link code or a QR code

> Connect WhatsApp to Mujib from the Channels page by typing a code into WhatsApp on your phone or scanning a QR code. Your number keeps working as usual.

To connect WhatsApp to Mujib, open **Channels** and link your business number with a code you type into WhatsApp on your phone, or a QR code you scan with WhatsApp's camera. The agent then reads and answers your customers' messages on that number. No new SIM is needed.

Mujib links to your number as a **linked device**, like WhatsApp Web: the number keeps working on your phone, and you see the conversations both in the app and in the Mujib dashboard.

## How do I connect WhatsApp with a link code from my phone?

You type your number into Mujib and get an eight-character code, which you type into WhatsApp on the phone that has the number. This is the easiest way when you use Mujib on that same phone.

1. Open **Channels** and press **Connect a WhatsApp number**.
2. In **The WhatsApp number you want to link**, type your number in international format without `+` and without the leading zero, for example `962790000000`.
3. Press **Get pairing code**. The code appears as `XXXX-XXXX`; **Copy code** copies it.
4. In WhatsApp on your phone, open **Settings**, then **Linked devices**, tap **Link a device**, then **Link with phone number instead**.
5. Paste or type the code, then come back to Mujib. The number turns **Connected** by itself within seconds.

> **Tip**
>
> If WhatsApp asks for your fingerprint or your phone's lock code while linking, that is normal: it is checking that the number is yours.
## How do I connect WhatsApp with a QR code from a computer?

When you open Mujib on a computer, a QR code appears next to the number field, and you scan it with WhatsApp's camera on your phone.

1. On the computer, open **Channels** and press **Connect a WhatsApp number**.
2. On your phone, open WhatsApp, then **Settings**, then **Linked devices**, and tap **Link a device**.
3. Point the phone's camera at the QR code on the computer screen.

The QR code refreshes by itself, so keep the page open until the link completes. When you open the page on a phone, the QR code sits behind the link **On a computer? Scan a QR code instead**.

## Does WhatsApp keep working on my phone after I connect it?

Yes. Your number keeps working on your phone and in the WhatsApp app as usual, because Mujib joins it as a linked device, not as a replacement for the phone.

- In the WhatsApp app you see the agent's replies to your customers, as the customer sees them.
- If you reply to a conversation from your phone, the agent stops replying in that conversation. See [Your reply pauses the agent](https://docs.mujib.ai/en/inbox/staff-reply-pauses-agent/).
- Do not remove Mujib from **Linked devices** on your phone: that disconnects the number, and the Channels page shows it as **Disconnected**.

## How many WhatsApp numbers can I connect?

Your subscription sets the number, and the Channels page shows how many you have at the top of the **WhatsApp numbers** card. At the limit, **Add another number** disappears and a note tells you so.

- One number serves one business in Mujib; it cannot be linked to two.
- Reconnecting a number that was linked before does not count as a new number, so the limit never blocks it.
- With more than one number linked, campaign messages rotate across the linked numbers.

## What does each status next to a number mean?

Each number shows its current status and the action that fits it.

| Status | What it means | What to do |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Connected** | The number is linked and the agent receives its messages | Nothing. It reconnects by itself after a short drop |
| **Connecting…** | Linking is in progress, waiting for the code or the QR scan | Finish the linking steps |
| **Earlier attempt** | An earlier linking attempt ended before it completed | Press **Link again** |
| **Disconnected** | The number is not linked and the agent does not answer on it | Press **Reconnect** |
| **Error** | The number could not stay connected; the reason shows under it | Follow the instructions under the number |

## What is the difference between disconnecting and deleting a number?

Disconnecting pauses the number and keeps its link; deleting unlinks it from WhatsApp for good.

- **Disconnect**: the agent stops answering on this number until you link it again.
- **Delete number**: Mujib unlinks the number from **Linked devices** in WhatsApp and removes its session. To bring it back later, link it again with a code.

> **Is the agent off?**
>
> If you link the number while the agent is off, you see **WhatsApp is connected but the agent is off**. Press **Turn the agent on** so it starts answering your customers.
## What if the link does not complete?

Start a new attempt; most stuck links are an expired code.

- **The code expired:** The code is valid for about a minute. Press **Expired? New code** and type the new code right away.
- **No code arrived:** press **Reconnect**, or scan the QR code if you are on a computer.
- **A "local number" message:** start with the country code instead of the zero, so `0790000000` becomes `962790000000`.
- Still stuck? See [Link code or QR expired](https://docs.mujib.ai/en/troubleshooting/qr-expired/) and [WhatsApp disconnected](https://docs.mujib.ai/en/troubleshooting/whatsapp-disconnected/).

## Frequently asked questions

### Do I need a new SIM card or a new number?

No. You link your current business number as it is, and it keeps working on your phone and in the WhatsApp app.

### Can I connect a WhatsApp Business number?

Yes. A WhatsApp Business app number and a regular WhatsApp number link the same way, from Linked devices in the app.

### How long is the link code valid?

About a minute, as the page itself says. If it expires before you type it, press **Expired? New code** for a fresh one.

### Can the same number serve two businesses in Mujib?

No. One number serves one business only, and linking it is refused if another business already uses it.

### What if no link code arrives?

Press **Reconnect** and try again. On a computer, scan the QR code instead of typing a code.
