# Visit types and how long each visit takes

> Visit types in Mujib are what your customers book with you, in your own words, each with its length. The agent and the calendar book from this list.

Visit types are what your customers book with you, such as a consultation or a laser session, each with its own length. You name them yourself in **Settings** → **Visit types**; the calendar shows them, and the agent books with the same names.

Before you add anything, every business starts with two generic types, a consultation («استشارة») and a follow-up («متابعة»). Rename them or add your own to match your work.

## How do I add a visit type?

You add and order the types in one section of Settings, then save them together.

1. Open **Settings** → **Visit types**.
2. Press **Add visit type** and type the **Visit type name**, up to 40 characters.
3. In **Visit length in minutes**, type this type's length, or leave it empty to use the default length.
4. Order the types with **Move up** and **Move down**; this order is the order they appear in when booking.
5. Press **Save visit types**.

A type's length is between 5 and 480 minutes. Only the owner and admins edit visit types.

## How is an appointment's length worked out?

The length comes from the most specific source available, in this order.

| Order | Source | Example |
| --- | --- | --- |
| First | A length staff typed for this visit | A visit that ran longer than usual |
| Second | The specialist's own length in the roster | A specialist whose visits take longer |
| Third | The visit type's length | A laser session is longer than a follow-up |
| Fourth | The default appointment length | Anything with no length of its own |

You set the default length in **Branches** → **Booking settings** → **Default appointment length**: choose 15, 20, 30, 45, 60, 90 and 120 minutes, or **Custom** with a number between 5 and 480. The length the agent books on its own — staff can change it for each visit. A visit type with its own length uses that.

A rescheduled appointment keeps the length it was booked with.

## Should I delete a visit type I no longer offer?

Do not delete it; hide it. A saved type cannot be deleted, because it remains the name of the past bookings made on it.

- Flip the type's switch from **Shown** to **Hidden**.
- A hidden type is not offered when booking, but old bookings of it stay readable. This order is the display order.
- The agent never offers or books a hidden type.
- At least one type must stay shown. If you clear a saved type's name, Mujib asks you to hide it instead.

A new row you have not saved yet can be removed with **Remove row**.

## What else can a booking ask for besides the visit type?

You can require details before every booking and add fields of your own. Both live under **Booking settings** on the **Branches** page.

- ****Required before confirming a booking**:** choose **Customer name**, **Phone number** or both. The agent and staff cannot complete a booking until these details are available. A known WhatsApp number is not requested again.
- ****Custom booking fields**:** add up to 30 fields with **Add field**, and pick the **Field type**: **Short text**, **Long text**, **Number**, **Dropdown** or **Date**. Tick **Required** when the field cannot be skipped.

The agent collects these fields from what the customer says in the chat, and does not complete a booking before the required ones are in. Your team sees the same fields in the calendar's booking form. Save with **Save booking settings**.

## What is the "subscribed or not" question on a visit type?

When your business sells subscriptions, each type gets an **Ask: subscribed / not subscribed?** switch that decides whether your team is asked about the visit's outcome after attendance.

- Keep it on for sales visits, such as a first consultation.
- Switch it off for visits with nothing to sell, such as a follow-up. Switch «Ask» off on a type (a follow-up, say) and its visits are not asked whether the client subscribed; recording a subscription stays in «⋯».

How the outcome is recorded is in [Attendance and visit outcome](https://docs.mujib.ai/en/bookings/attendance-stages/).

## Frequently asked questions

### How many visit types can I add?

Up to 20, and at least one type must stay shown.

### Can I delete a visit type I no longer offer?

A saved type is hidden, not deleted. It is no longer offered when booking, and its past bookings still read with its name.

### What length does the agent book when a type has none?

The default appointment length, 30 minutes unless you change it in the booking settings.

### Does the agent book with the names I typed?

Yes. The agent books with the same names the calendar shows, and never offers a type you hid.

### Who can edit visit types?

Only the owner and admins. The rest of the team sees the types without editing them.
