# Branches, opening hours and breaks in Mujib

> Opening hours in Mujib are set per branch, day by day, with breaks. The agent and the calendar compute free times from them, so nothing is offered outside them.

Opening hours are the times each branch is open, set day by day on the **Branches** page. The agent and the calendar compute bookable times from them: the agent never offers an appointment outside them, nor one where the whole visit would not fit before closing.

Every branch has its own week, and each day can have one window or several. The time between two windows on the same day is a break.

## How do I set a branch's opening hours?

You set them on the **Hours** step when you add or edit a branch.

1. Open **Branches** and press **Add branch** for a new branch, or **Edit** on an existing branch's card.
2. Go to **Hours**. If the hours are not set yet, turn on **Set working hours**.
3. For each day choose **Open** or **Closed**, then type the **From** and **To** times.
4. Press **Save branch**.

At least one day has to stay open. To close the whole branch, use the **Active** switch on the **Numbers & staff** step instead of closing every day.

> **Note**
>
> A closed day does not appear in the calendar, and the agent never offers or confirms an appointment on it.
## How do I add a break in the middle of the day?

Add a second window to the same day with **Add a window**; the time between the two windows becomes a break. For example, one window from `09:00` to `13:00` and another from `14:00` to `18:00`.

- The agent never offers a time inside the break, and never books a visit that runs across it.
- Each window must start after the previous one ends; overlapping windows are refused on save.
- The front desk can still book one visit inside the break as an exception by ticking **Exceptional booking** in the booking form. The agent never offers that time to customers.

## Can each branch have its own hours and staff?

Yes. Every branch has its own opening hours and specialists, and the agent works out each branch's times on its own.

- You add a branch's specialists on the **Numbers & staff** step, and each specialist becomes a column in the calendar.
- A specialist can have their own hours when they start or finish outside the branch's hours. You set them in **Team roster**; see [Staff and specialists](https://docs.mujib.ai/en/bookings/staff/).

## What happens if I never set opening hours?

It depends on your account, and the branch page tells you which case applies, under the opening hours.

| What you see | What it means |
| --- | --- |
| Booking turns on by itself once every active branch has saved times. | The agent books nothing until every active branch has saved times; then booking starts by itself |
| A note that booking runs on the default week | The calendar and the agent book every day from 09:00 to 18:00 until you set hours |
| The agent says the hours are not recorded and never makes any up. Turn the switch on to set them. | For businesses that take no appointments, the agent says the hours are not recorded and never invents any |

In the first case Settings also shows: The calendar is not on yet: your branches have no booking times. Set them on the Branches page and it turns on by itself.

## How does the agent apply opening hours?

The agent applies the hours literally, and answers "first appointment" and "last appointment" according to the visit's length.

- **Last appointment:** the last time a visit can start and still end before closing, never the closing time itself.
- **Start times:** offered on a fixed grid from opening time, every 30 minutes by default.
- **Closed day:** it says the branch is closed that day and offers the nearest days with a free time.
- **Full day:** it says the branch is open but has no free time left, and never calls it closed.
- **Past time:** it never offers a time that has already passed today.

When the day is a public holiday you marked closed or as a short day, that decision overrides the weekly hours. See [Public holidays](https://docs.mujib.ai/en/bookings/holidays/).

## What does pausing or deleting a branch do?

Pausing is temporary and keeps everything; deleting is final.

- **Pause:** switch off **Active**. The agent offers it to customers. A paused branch never comes up in what the agent says.
- **Delete:** The branch is deleted for good. Its conversations and bookings stay, without a branch, and any staff account tied to this branch is disabled until you tie it to another one.

If pausing or deleting would stop booking at all your branches, for example because it is the last active branch with booking times, Mujib warns you first that the agent will stop booking and the calendar page and reminders will stop until its times are set. Your bookings stay saved either way.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can each branch have its own hours and staff?

Yes. Each branch has its own week and its own specialists, and the agent works out each branch's times separately.

### How do I add a lunch break?

Add a second window to the same day with **Add a window**. The time between the two windows is a break the agent never offers.

### What if I never set opening hours?

It depends on your account. Either booking waits until you save your branches' times and then starts by itself, or the calendar and the agent book on the default week, every day from 09:00 to 18:00. The branch page tells you which applies.

### Does the agent book the last appointment at closing time?

No. The last appointment is the last time a whole visit can start and still end before closing; for an hour-long visit, that is an hour before closing.

### Can I close a branch for a while?

Yes. Switch off **Active** on the branch. The agent stops offering it, and its bookings and conversations stay saved.
